Akshay-Sonakshi movie titled 'Pistol'

Vipul Shah has bought the rights of 2012 Tamil blockbuster 'Thuppakki' (meaning Gun). Akshay Kumar will be playing the lead role in the movie alongside Sonakshi Sinha and it is titled as 'Pistol'. This will be the fourth film together for Akshay and Sonakshi after Rowdy Rathore, Joker and Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Again. Vipul has long association with Khiladi Kumar as he has directed him in Aankhein, Waqt and Namastey London. 'Singh is King', which was directed by Anees Bazmee, was also produced by Vipul Shah. The movie 'Pistol' will be directed by original director A.R.Murugadoss who also directed the Tamil and Hindi versions of Ghajini. 'Thuppakki' had Vijay and Kajal Agrawal in the lead roles.

Vipul and Akshay were toying with the ideas of sequels to Namastey London and Singh is King. But they finally decided to flow with the tide as South Indian action remakes are currently raking in huge moolah at the box office. Apparently, it was Murugadoss's remake of Ghajini which started this trend as it went on to become the first 100 crore grosser of Indian Cinema.
